Authentic Japanese Sword
Condition

The blade is beautifully decorated, with a plum tree design on the front and carvings of gomabashi and Sanskrit characters (bonji) on the reverse, giving it an elegant and refined appearance.


Please note that there is a small chip near the hamachi (edge notch).

Hosokawa Tadamasa
Background

Tadamasa Hosokawa was the son of Tadayoshi Hosokawa and the grandson of the famous Masayoshi Hosokawa.
The front features a plum tree, and the back is engraved with a goma stick and bonji characters, giving it an elegant appearance.
The single-file rasping on the tang indicates it belongs to the Hosokawa family line, but it is unfortunate that there is no signature.
